April Update: A Message from your Kids Pastor
Hey Summit Families,
Our world has been flipped upside down in the last few weeks, and I know this has brought up many fears and worries about the unknown. I have personally experienced this myself and it has been a battle to continue surrendering my heart to the Lord and trusting Him completely. Many things that we took for granted are no longer available, like school, family gatherings, sports, or meeting together as a church family at our Capital Hills Campus. As we figure out our new normal, I hope I can encourage you to see some of our circumstances as a unique opportunity for family worship.
Our situation prompted me to reflect, and I was reminded that worshipping at home as a family has been prioritized and modeled in both the Old Testament and New Testament. We see emphasis on impressing God’s word in the hearts of our children (Deut. 6:4-9), telling the next generation about the “glorious deeds of the Lord” (Psalm 78:1-8), and instructing our children in spiritual disciplines (Eph. 6:1-4).
Even though we are unable to gather together for this season, we have an opportunity to set a solid foundation of family worship in our homes. I want to encourage every family to take time each day to Read from the bible together, Pray together as a family, and Sing together songs of praise. It will not always be smooth or even easy, but it can be consistent. This model will be a simple way to reflect on how our God is always faithful and consistent and He can completely be trusted even in the most trying times. I am praying for you as you READ, PRAY, SING together and remember all that God has done and prayerfully hope for all that He will continue to do.
