Making Disciples Who Make Disciples

When thinking about the vision of Summit College, we take our cue from Jesus when he says, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” (Matthew 4:19 ESV)

Our vision is that our college students would grow as mature disciples of Christ by becoming radical followers of Jesus, making disciples who make disciples, and boldly proclaiming the name of Jesus to the nations.

SC United

SC United is our all-college gathering, where students from many schools gather two times each semester to worship and seek Jesus together, to be encouraged and strengthened by what he is doing on our campuses, and to be sent out to spread the gospel to our campuses, our city, and the nations. Join us for vision and encouragement on being disciples who make disciples.

Why doesn’t Summit College meet weekly?

We actually do have a weekly, large-group gathering—the weekend service at all of our campuses! Because of the number of solid campus ministries in the area and their weekly gatherings, we don’t want to add another mid-week, large-group gathering. We love those weekly campus ministry gatherings and know that many of our students are invested in them. We want students to see attending and serving in church as their large-group gathering for Summit College. Also, Summit College is geared more toward organic and informal relationships that develop as you do life with people on campus.

“The physical presence of other Christians is a source of incomparable joy and strength to the believer.” –Dietrich Bonhoeffer

Family Groups

We believe Bonheoffer is right on, and we love that many of our students are invested in campus ministry small groups. If you are part of a campus ministry, we encourage you to stay and invest in one of their small groups. Discipleship and growth happen in relationships!

If you are not involved in a campus ministry, fill out this brief interest form, and we will follow up with you to get you plugged into a family group at your campus.

Jesus modeled humble service to his disciples and followers, and we learn in John 13 that he even washed his disciples’ feet. We want our college students to follow Jesus’ example and continually grow as humble servants to our church and the community.

There are many opportunities to serve our church and community, from helping in Summit Kids to mentoring at-risk students in local schools.

“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations .... And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” –Jesus

Hundreds of college students from the Triangle have responded to Jesus’ invitation to join in his mission at their school, in their city, and across the nation. We also send many college students to mission fields all over the world through our City Project and Second City programs during the summer and many college graduates as part of our two-year teams.
