My Discipleship Commitment

Make Your Commitment

At the core of our vision is a single word—disciple.

We believe that every disciple of Jesus is (1) a worshiper of God, (2) a member of God's family, (3) a servant to others, (4) a steward of God’s resources, and (5) a witness to the world.

In light of this clear vision, we are expectant of what God wants to do in and through us as disciple-making disciples this year. During the month of February, we are asking everyone who calls this church their home to make a commitment to being a disciple-making disciple.

We are calling this My Discipleship Commitment.

We believe this is a unique time for each of us to make a personal commitment to growing as a disciple-making disciple. For some of us, this will be a new commitment. For others, it will be a renewal. For all of us, it will be a mark of the unity we have in our shared mission.

Make Your Discipleship Commitment

Before you take this important step, we want you to take some time to prayerfully consider what this commitment means for you. Ask the Holy Spirit to make this real to you today—and ask him to make this real to all of us.

If you're uncertain about how this commitment can apply to your life, we encourage you to walk through our Growing as a Healthy Disciple Self-reflection.

In light of this clear vision, we’re expectant of what God wants to do in and through us as disciple-making disciples this year. During a weekend service in February, Pastor J.D. will ask everyone who calls this church their home to make a commitment to being a disciple-making disciple.

This is not the same as becoming a member or renewing your membership. If you are already a member of our church, this is a unique commitment in this season of our church to being a disciple-making disciple. If you are not yet a member, we still want you to make this commitment and let it lead you to officially becoming a member through one of our upcoming membership classes. Our desire is for everyone connected to the Summit to take their next steps of growth as a disciple.

Our pastoral team loves and cares for you, and us reaching out to you after your commitment is (1) a way for us to get to know you more, and (2) a way for us to help encourage you in knowing God and being a disciple-making disciple.

One of our Summit elders, pastors, or staff members will reach out to you through the contact information you provided. Our hope is to have a conversation with you and serve in your growth. We are expectant that thousands of our church family will make these commitments. Because of this number, you can expect a response in the next few weeks. We are excited to talk with you!

As disciples of Jesus Christ, we are the five identities, simultaneously, and each identity is important to our pursuit of the Christian life. While our desire is for every disciple at the Summit to grow in all five identities at the same time, we recognize that every disciple has a unique context with distinct challenges, and a commitment to grow in all five identities may not be possible for everyone at this time. We simply ask that you prayerfully commit to growing in as many identities as possible in this season; we’re here to support you in your journey.

We encourage you to take some time to pray and reflect on this commitment. When you’re ready, make your commitment. We’ll be talking about this commitment in weekend services during the latter half of February and will encourage all commitments to be made by the end of February.

If you’re in a Summit small group, you will also be walking through My Discipleship Commitment with your group. In one of your group meetings in February, you’ll spend time discussing each identity and commitment in preparation to individually make your commitment.
